Secret Deployment Expected in the Coming Months
Ukraine’s intelligence agency has claimed that North Korea is preparing to send 30,000 more soldiers to Russia. According to reports, the deployment is expected to happen secretly within the next few months, as reported by CNN.
A photo from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia’s Far East shows both Russian and North Korean flags flying together, highlighting the growing ties between the two countries.

At the same time, Russia has launched a large drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, causing serious damage to infrastructure.

According to Al Jazeera, the attack took place on Wednesday, July 2, and resulted in a building catching fire and several surrounding areas being damaged.

The United States has paused its military aid, saying their own stockpiles are running low. This includes the delay of air defence systems, missiles, and ammunition for Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that discussions with the U.S. are ongoing. Meanwhile, Kyiv is also preparing to talk with the European Union and other allies to begin joint production of weapons.
11,000 North Korean Soldiers Already Sent in 2024
New Troops May Join Russian Units in Battle
According to Ukrainian intelligence, this is not the first time North Korea has sent troops. Back in November 2024, about 11,000 North Korean soldiers were secretly deployed to support Russian forces.
CNN reports that the Russian Defence Ministry is ready to supply these new soldiers with weapons and equipment, and they are expected to join Russian military units directly.
Ukraine believes these troops could be used in active combat in Russian-occupied regions.
Europe Plans New Border Defences
Meanwhile, five European countries are planning to place banned landmines along their borders with Russia, raising further tensions in the region.
