In Sylhet’s Companyganj area, authorities have recovered around 12,000 cubic feet of stones stolen from the popular tourist spot ‘Sadapathor’. The stones have been placed back into the Dhalai River as part of a special operation led by the district administration and law enforcement agencies. Officials confirmed the drive will continue until all stolen stones are returned, and those involved in the theft will face legal consequences.
Recovery Operation Begins at ‘Sadapathor’
The recovery of stolen stones from the tourist destination ‘Sadapathor’ in Companyganj, Sylhet, has officially started. Authorities launched this effort to restore the natural beauty of the area and stop illegal stone extraction. The stones had been taken unlawfully from the banks of the Dhalai River.
Joint Effort by Administration and Law Enforcement
The Sylhet District Administration, along with police forces, began a special late-night operation on Wednesday (August 13) after midnight. The aim was to recover the stolen stones and return them to their original place in the river.

12,000 Cubic Feet of Stones Recovered
According to local sources, the operation has already led to the recovery of approximately 12,000 cubic feet of stones. These recovered stones were placed back into the Dhalai River to restore the riverbank’s natural state.
Operation Will Continue Until All Stones Are Recovered
District administration officials stated that the drive will not stop until every stolen stone is returned. They also emphasized that all individuals connected to the theft will be identified and brought under legal action.
Police Confirm Full Cooperation
Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam said:
“আমরা প্রশাসনের সঙ্গে সম্পূর্ণ সমন্বয় রেখে বিশেষ অভিযানটি পরিচালনা করছি। ‘সাদাপাথর’ থেকে চুরি হওয়া পাথর উদ্ধার ও প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্য রক্ষাই এখন মূল লক্ষ্য। এই এলাকায় অবৈধভাবে পাথর উত্তোলনে জড়িতদের বিরুদ্ধে আইনি কঠোর ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করা হচ্ছে।”
