None of the 144 political parties that applied for registration have passed the preliminary screening by the Election Commission (EC). This was confirmed by the EC’s Additional Secretary, K M Ali Newaz.
On Tuesday (July 15), he stated that after reviewing all the applications, the EC found that no party met the required criteria. Therefore, in the first phase, 62 parties are being sent letters to rectify the deficiencies. These parties have been given a 15-day deadline. In the next phase, similar letters will be sent to the remaining parties.

Only those who can provide the necessary information and documents within this opportunity to correct deficiencies will be considered for final registration. The Election Commission has stated that if the deficiencies are not rectified within the stipulated time, the respective applications will be considered canceled.
