15 Military Officers Taken into Custody in International Crimes Cases

Custody of Accused Officers

The Bangladesh Army has taken 15 officers into custody who are accused in cases under the International Crimes Tribunal. However, Major General Kabir Ahmad has not yet been found.

This was revealed during a press conference at Mess Alpha, Dhaka Cantonment on Saturday (October 11) by Adjutant General Major General Md. Hakimuzzaman.

Details of the Accused

According to Major General Hakimuzzaman, 25 officers are accused in three separate cases:

  • 9 Military Officers are retired,
  • 1 officer is in LPR (Leave Pending Retirement),
  • 15 officers are currently in service.

“৮ তারিখ চার্জশিট দাখিলের পর এলপিআর ও সার্ভিসে থাকা ১৬ জনকে সেনাসদরে সংযুক্ত করা হয়। তাদের ৯ অক্টোবরের মধ্যে সেনাসদরে আসার নির্দেশনা দেওয়া হয়। মেজর জেনারেল কবীর আহাম্মদ ছাড়া বাকি ১৫ জন রেসপন্স করেছেন। তাদের হেফাজতে রাখা হয়েছে। তারা ফ্যামিলি থেকে ডিটাচ আছেন।”

Translation: “After the chargesheet was filed on the 8th, 16 officers in service and LPR were directed to report to Army Headquarters by October 9. Except for Major General Kabir Ahmad, the remaining 15 responded and have been taken into custody, detached from their families.”

Missing Major General Kabir Ahmad

Regarding Major General Kabir Ahmad, Major General Hakimuzzaman stated:

“তিনি ৯ অক্টোবর সকালে বাসা থেকে বের হয়েছেন। এরপর থেকে তিনি মিসিং।”

Translation: “He left his house on the morning of October 9. Since then, he is missing.”

The army continues efforts to locate him while maintaining custody of the other 15 accused officers.
