A total of 27 people have been arrested by the joint forces on charges of involvement in the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif. They were detained after operations were carried out in various areas of Chittagong until midnight on Tuesday, following the incident. Kotwali Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fazlul Kader confirmed this. He stated that 7 of the 27 detainees were directly involved in the murder of Saiful. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Md. Rashed Uddin mentioned that the remaining 20 detainees are being verified. No case has been filed yet regarding Saiful’s murder, but a case has been filed at Kotwali Police Station for the injury of a police officer. The lawyer was killed during a clash with law enforcement authorities following a protest by ISKCON supporters after the bail denial of expelled ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari.
