Retired Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the home affairs advisor to the interim government said,
“মালয়েশিয়া থেকে দেশে ফেরত পাঠানো ৩ জনের জঙ্গি সংশ্লিষ্টতা নেই। ভিসার মেয়াদ শেষ হওয়ায় তাদের ফেরত পাঠানো হয়েছে।”
Translation: “The three people deported from Malaysia have no militant affiliation. They were sent back because their visas expired.”
He made the remarks in response to questions from reporters after visiting the Export Cargo Village at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11 am on Sunday (July 6).
The Home Affairs Advisor said,
‘যারা এসেছে তারা জঙ্গি নয়, তাদের মূলত ভিসার মেয়াদ শেষ হয়েছে। দেশেও জঙ্গিবাদের সঙ্গে এদের কোনো সম্পৃক্ততা নেই। বর্তমানে বাংলাদেশে জঙ্গিবাদ নেই। গত ১০ মাসে জঙ্গিবাদের কোনো অস্তিত্ব নেই। এটি শুধুমাত্র একটি পরিদর্শন, কোনো অনুষ্ঠান ছিল না। পরিদর্শনে মূলত কীভাবে রপ্তানি করা হয়, সেটাই দেখা হচ্ছে। এনবিআরের সমস্যার কারণে রপ্তানিতে কিছুটা সমস্যা হয়েছে। তবে বর্তমানে সেই সমস্যা কেটেছে।’
Translation: “Those who came are not militants, their visas have basically expired. They have no involvement with militancy in the country. There is no militancy in Bangladesh at present. There has been no militancy in the last 10 months. This was just an inspection, not a program. The inspection is basically looking at how exports are done. There was some problem in exports due to the problem with the NBR. However, that problem has now been resolved.”

He further said,
‘আমাদের নতুন যে এক্সপোর্ট টার্মিনাল হচ্ছে, সেখানে বড় একটি সুবিধা থাকবে, সেটি হলো- যদি কোনো কারণে পণ্য রপ্তানি না হয়, পরে সেই পণ্য কোল্ড স্টোরেজে রেখে দেয়া যাবে। বর্তমানে যদি বিমানে পণ্য লোড করা না যায়, কোল্ড স্টোরেজ না থাকার কারণে সেই সুবিধা এখন নেই।’
Translation:“Our new export terminal will have a big advantage, which is that if for some reason the product is not exported, it can be stored in cold storage later. Currently, if the product cannot be loaded onto an airplane, that advantage is no longer available due to the lack of cold storage.”
In response to a question from journalists, the Home Affairs Advisor also said,
‘বাংলাদেশে কোনো ধরনের জঙ্গি নেই। আপনাদের সহযোগিতায় জঙ্গি নির্মূল করা হয়েছে। আপনাদের ক্রেডিট সবচেয়ে বেশি। গত ১০ মাসে জঙ্গি নিয়ে কোনো তথ্য আপনারা দিতে পেরেছেন? যেহেতু জঙ্গি নাই, আপনারা তথ্য দিতে পারেননি। আগে ছিল, আপনারা তথ্য দিয়েছেন।’
Translation: “There are no militants in Bangladesh. With your cooperation, militants have been eliminated. You are most credited. Have you been able to provide any information about militants in the last 10 months? Since there are no militants, you could not provide information. Earlier, you provided information.”
