A 3-year-old child in Hangzhou, China, miraculously survived after falling from the 18th floor of a building. A tree helped save the child’s life by softening the fall. The father, overwhelmed with emotion, later thanked the tree with a large red flower. The incident shocked many and quickly spread on social media, where people called it nothing short of a miracle.
Shocking Incident in Hangzhou: Child Falls from 18th Floor
On July 15, in Hangzhou city of Zhejiang province, a three-year-old child accidentally fall from 18th floor of a high-rise apartment building. Amazingly, the child survived the fall — something doctors and onlookers described as nothing less than a miracle.
Left in Grandparents’ Care, Window Was Unprotected
At the time of the incident, the child was under the care of his grandparents. They thought the child was sleeping, so they locked the door and went out to the market. However, after waking up, the curious child went to the bathroom and climbed onto the toilet. From there, the child reached the window.
Unfortunately, the bathroom window had no safety bars, which allowed the child to fall straight out of the 18th-floor window.

Tree Saves the Child’s Life Mid-Fall
As the child was falling, a tree next to the building broke the fall. This tree is considered to have played a vital role in saving the child’s life. A resident of the building saw the child lying below and quickly recorded a video. He then alerted the building management.
“পড়ে যাওয়ার সময় ১৭ তলায় একটি খোলা জানালায় ধাক্কা খেয়ে শিশুর দিক পরিবর্তন হয়, যার ফলে সে সরাসরি গাছের ওপর পড়ে। না হলে ও সরাসরি কংক্রিটে পড়তো,” বলেন শিশুর বাবা ঝু।
“While falling, the child hit an open window on the 17th floor, which changed his direction, and he landed on a tree. Otherwise, he would’ve fallen straight onto concrete,” said the child’s father, Zhu.
Father Couldn’t Believe It at First
The child’s father, identified only as Zhu, was in disbelief when he first heard about the fall. It was only after watching the CCTV footage from the building that he accepted what had actually happened.
He explained how the open window on the 17th floor redirected the fall, which helped the child land on a life-saving tree.
Doctors Call It a Miracle
The child was immediately taken to the hospital. Doctors said it was miraculous that the child survived such a dangerous fall. He suffered a broken left arm, spinal compression, and some internal injuries, but no head trauma was found — a very rare outcome for a fall from such a height.
Even while in the hospital, the child remained alert and playful. He even made a sweet request:
“বাবাকে বলো আমাকে একটা বাম্বলবি (ট্রান্সফর্মারস খেলনা) কিনে দিক।”
“Tell Dad to buy me a Bumblebee (Transformers toy),” said the child to the doctors.
Thanking the Tree with a Red Flower
To show gratitude to the tree that helped save his son’s life, Zhu later placed a large red flower on the tree. In Chinese culture, such flowers symbolize respect, celebration, and thankfulness.
“শিশুটির প্রাণ বাঁচানো গাছের প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞতা জানাতে ঝু পরে গাছটিকে একটি বড় লাল ফুল দিয়ে সম্মান জানান।”
“To thank the tree that saved his child, Zhu honoured it with a big red flower.”
