Funding Approved for Gas Supply and Air Quality

The World Bank has approved $640 million in funding for two projects in Bangladesh. These initiatives seek to improve urban air quality and gas supply.

On Thursday, the World Bank’s Executive Board officially approved the funding for the two projects focused on tackling gas supply issues and air pollution.

Energy and Environment Are Key Priorities

Gail Martin, the World Bank’s Acting Country Director for Bangladesh, said that energy security and better air quality are important for Bangladesh’s economic development.

She also mentioned that these projects will:

  • Reduce gas supply limitations

  • Address major causes of urban air pollution

  • Help increase economic growth

  • Improve productivity

  • Create new job opportunities
