Students of United International University (UIU) continued their protest on Saturday morning (20 June) by blocking the road in Natun bazar area of Dhaka. Their protest is focused on five main demands, including the cancellation of expulsion orders.
Police Use Force, But Students Stay Put
To stop the road blockade, police tried to remove the students by using batons (lathi charge). However, the students did not leave the area and continued their protest.
Traffic Completely Blocked in the Area
The protest began at 8 AM. As a result, traffic on the Natun bazar-Gulshan-Banasree connecting road came to a standstill, causing major disruption.

What Are the Students Demanding?
The protesting students have placed five specific demands:

Unconditional cancellation of the expulsion orders issued by the university.

Compensation for the expelled students.

Investigation and punishment of all individuals involved in the expulsion process — including students, teachers, officials, and staff.

Creation of a reform commission for private universities.

Cancellation of the 15% VAT imposed on private universities.
Tensions Grow in the Capital
The kids are adamant about what they want, yet the situation is still tight. They claim that unless appropriate action is done, they will not depart.
