Two of the most important defence leaders —

and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth
— are currently present in the Situation Room, according to BBC reports.

They Report Directly to the President
Both General Kane and Secretary Hegseth are the highest-ranking military and civilian officials in the US defence system. As Commander-in-Chief, President Trump receives direct updates and advice from them.
Unclear if Scheduled Security Meeting Has Started
There was a National Security Council meeting planned earlier. Still unknown, though, is whether or not that meeting has formally begun.
