A mother from Bhola said these words through tears for her daughter. Her voice trembling with both grief and unanswered questions.
She still doesn’t know what truly happened on that day. Her 23-year-old daughter, an honours student full of dreams, had boarded a launch from Bhola, heading towards Dhaka.
Sometime during that journey, she went missing. Three days later, on June 20, her lifeless body was pulled from the banks of the Meghna River by the naval police near Majuchowdhury Ghat in Lakshmipur.
Was it suicide? Was she pushed? Or was something even more horrifying done to her before she was thrown overboard? The family is haunted by these questions.
“We don’t know if she jumped, if someone pushed her, or if she was raped and then killed,” the mother said. “We just want to know the truth. We deserve that much. We only have one demand that there must be a fair investigation. If someone did this to her, they must be punished.”
