Shakib said to the journalist that he won’t say anything

After the formalities of the Kanpur Test, there was a farewell atmosphere at Green Park. Even if not the Kanpur Test as announced by Shakib Al Hasan, he will retire from white-shirt cricket with the South Africa series at home. However, Virat Kohli’s gift and honoring the journalists gave a farewell tone.

On Tuesday (October 1) in Kanpur, Shakib was presented with a souvenir written ‘Best Wishes to Legendary Shakib Al Hasan’ by the journalists. At that moment, when a journalist from the crowd asked him a question, Shakib clearly said, “I will not say anything.” Thereafter Shakib autographed some people and returned to the courtroom.

Although Shakib wants to retire after the South Africa series, his performance in the home series is uncertain. Shakib has sought an assurance to return home to play the series and to leave the country wayward after the series. He also expressed his worry about his safety.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Sports Ministry are not in preference of taking any special measures for his safety. It has been said to provide the security that players and ordinary citizens of the state deserve. Under such circumstances,it is still uncertain whether Shakib will return home and take part in the series against the Proteas.

En passant, the first Test of the two-match series against South Africa will be played in Mirpur on October 21.
