Govt Declares Three New Days for National Observance

Three New Days

The government of Bangladesh has decided to officially observe three new important days every year. These days have been approved through official circulars issued by the Cabinet Division on 25 June.


Three New Days Announced

The three days declared are:

  • 5 August – July Mass Uprising Day

  • 8 August – New Bangladesh Day

  • 16 July – Martyr Abu Sayed Day

Each of these days marks a significant moment in the country’s recent history.

Categories of Observance

The government has placed these days under two different categories for official observance:

  • 5 August has been listed in the ‘Ka’ category

  • 8 August and 16 July are included in the ‘Kha’ category

These categories are used by the government to classify how national and international days should be observed officially.

Instruction for All Ministries and Departments

All ministries, government departments, and related organisations have been instructed to observe these days properly and make sure all official activities are carried out accordingly.
