Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, former Member of Parliament of Noakhali-4 Constituency and former General Secretary of District Awami League, was apprehended by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday night. A team of RAB arrested him from his house in Abdul Malek Lane area under Khulshi police station of Chittagong at around 11 pm on Tuesday.
Senior Assistant Director Mohammad Shariful Alam confirmed this information to Jugantar. He said that several local and foreign coins were recovered from him. RAB also seized several personal belongings including cash.

Seized personal belongings of accused Ekramul Haque Chowdhury (former MP, Noakhali-4) at the time of arrest:
1/ Bangladeshi 1000 Taka notes 100 1000×100 = 100,000/ (1 Lakh) Taka only
2/ Bangladeshi 500 taka note 18 bundles 50,000 thousand taka per bundle 50000×18 = 900000/ (nine lakh) taka only. Total Bangladeshi Taka 10,0000/ (Ten Lakh) only
3/ US dollars 162 100 dollars each 162×100 = 16200/ dollars
4/ Singapore dollar 6 notes of 100 dollars, 29 notes of 50 dollars, 5 notes of 10 dollars, 4 notes of 5 dollars, 4 notes of 2 dollars,
A total of 2124 Singapore dollars.
5/ 4 ATM cards
6/ 1 NID card
7/ 1 Motor driving license
8/ 1 parliament ID Card
9/ 1 bag of money
10/ 1 chain of gold
