A shocking incident has been reported from Tazumuddin upazila of Bhola, where a man was allegedly beaten and his wife gang-raped over a demand for extortion money. One individual has already been taken into custody by police in connection with aiding the crime after the victim submitted a written complaint to the Tazumuddin Police Station.
Attack Took Place in Tazumuddin Town
The incident happened on Monday (30 June) at Kamarpatti Road in Tazumuddin town. According to the complaint, the man named Rubel was called to a house on Saturday night by his second wife. But when he arrived, a group of men who had been waiting there grabbed him and beat him throughout the night, asking for extortion money.

Wife Called to Bring Money, But Refused
On Sunday morning, Rubel’s first wife was called to the place and asked to bring 4 lakh taka to free her husband. When she refused to give the money, the attackers again beat Rubel badly using rods and steel pipes.
Alleged Gang-Rape by Political Leaders
Later around 12 noon, the attackers moved Rubel elsewhere and then allegedly raped his wife. The two main accused in the rape are Md. Farid Uddin, the Joint General Secretary (No. 1) of the Tazumuddin Upazila Labor Party, and a man named Alauddin. Even though the woman’s father and brother begged for mercy, they could not stop the crime.
Victims Threatened, Told to Stay Silent
After the incident, the attackers sent the couple home and threatened them not to speak about what had happened. But the situation took a serious turn when the woman reportedly attempted suicide twice on Sunday evening. Neighbors rescued her and brought her to a local market area called Muchibarirkona, where she shared the story with people nearby.
999 Call and Police Response
The woman later called the emergency number 999 and gave full details of the crime. Based on her report, police have identified six suspects and filed a case against them, along with five other unknown people.
Police Statement
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohabbat Khan of Tazumuddin Police Station confirmed the case. He said that they are actively trying to arrest the accused and continue the investigation.
