On Tuesday (July 1), while speaking to the media at the Election Commission building, CEC Nasir Uddin clarified, “It was merely a courtesy meeting with the Chief Adviser is nothing formal. Normally, during a partisan government, the CEC does not meet with the head of government. But now, just as I am neutral, so is the Chief Adviser.”

He further stated, “At present, the issue of elections is at the center of national discussion. Naturally, the topic came up during our conversation. The Chief Adviser asked whether we are prepared to hold a free and fair election. I told him we are in full gear in terms of preparations.”

Nasir Uddin also remarked that both the Chief Adviser and the Election Commission are unquestionably sincere about ensuring a free and credible election. He noted that the Commission has been preparing for the national polls targeting the period from February to April.

The CEC added that the official election date will be announced in due time and will come directly from the Election Commission. “People will know soon enough,” he said, urging everyone to wait just a little longer.
