Bangladesh has paid a total of $437 million to India’s Adani Power for importing electricity. This payment clears all outstanding bills, including transportation costs and issues related to the power purchase agreement.
Largest Single Payment Made in June
According to a report by PTI, this payment was made in June 2025 and is said to be the largest single payment made to Adani Power by Bangladesh so far.
No More Outstanding Bills, Says Report
Citing sources from New Delhi, PTI also reported that the payment covered previous dues, transmission costs, and other charges related to the power purchase deal. Currently, Bangladesh has no outstanding balance with Adani Power.

Request to Continue Electricity Supply
With no dues remaining, the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) has requested Adani Power to continue supplying electricity at the agreed rate from both of its units at the Jharkhand power plant.
Bangladesh Was Paying Monthly Instalments
According to Indian news outlet NDTV, Bangladesh had been paying Adani Power $90 to $100 million per month over the last three to four months before clearing the full dues.
25-Year Power Deal Signed in 2017
Bangladesh signed a 25-year agreement with Adani Power on 5 November 2017 to buy electricity. Under this deal, Adani built a coal-based power plant in Godda, Jharkhand, with an investment of $2 billion to supply power to Bangladesh.
