Tragic Incident in Feni
In a heartbreaking turn of events, the father of a 20-year-old Chatraleague leader suffered a fatal stroke at a police station in Feni, shortly after witnessing his son being held by the police.
The son, Ali Hossain Fahad, was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of police. Later, considering the emotional tragedy, Fahad was granted bail under the custody of his relatives on the condition that he would appear before authorities when required.
Arrest of Former BCL Leader Fahad
On Wednesday evening (July 2), police arrested Ali Hossain Fahad from the playground of Shorshodi High School, located in the Shorshodi Union, Ward 3 of Feni Sadar Upazila.
Fahad was formerly the General Secretary of Ward 3 unit of the Bangladesh Chatra League (BCL).

According to police, he was picked up as a suspected person in an ongoing case, though his name was not listed as a main accused in the FIR.
Father Dies After Seeing Son in Custody
After learning about his son’s arrest, Ali Akbar, father of Fahad, rushed to Feni Model Police Station on Wednesday night.
Upon seeing his son detained, he suddenly fell ill and suffered a stroke while sitting on a chair inside the station, said Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Shamsuzzaman.
Ali Akbar was quickly taken to Feni National Heart Foundation Hospital, where doctors sadly declared him dead. His funeral took place on Thursday morning at their family graveyard.
Police Allow Bail on Humanitarian Grounds
OC Shamsuzzaman confirmed the series of events.
He stated:
“Fahad was arrested based on suspicion in an ongoing investigation. However, after his father’s unexpected death at the police station, we considered the situation and allowed Fahad temporary release under the guardianship of his family, with the condition that he appears again when summoned.”
A Family Left in Grief
The sudden death of Ali Akbar has left the family and local residents in deep shock and sadness. What began as a routine arrest turned into a family tragedy, raising emotional concerns about the mental toll such arrests can have on loved ones.
