In the last fiscal year, Bangladesh saw strong and positive growth in export earnings. Compared to the previous year, export income increased by more than 8.5%, which is seen as a good sign for the country’s economy.
June Faced Some Challenges
Although June had a 10-day Eid holiday and work was also disrupted by a strike from revenue board employees, the overall export performance still held up. These issues affected the last two working days of June, causing lower export earnings compared to the same month last year.

Highest Export Income in Three Years
Even with those June challenges, the full fiscal year recorded the highest export earnings in the past three years. Total export income stood at $48.28 billion (4,828 crore 33 lakh dollars).

In the 2021-22 fiscal year, export earnings were slightly higher at $52.08 billion, though some figures from that year were later questioned for data inconsistencies.
Garments Lead the Way
The largest contributor was still the ready-made clothing industry. It brought in $33.35 billion, while all other sectors combined earned $9.93 billion.
Compared to the previous year, the garment sector alone saw a growth of around $2.2 billion, showing its continued strength as Bangladesh’s main export driver.
