BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has stated that the party is upholding a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against unethical and criminal activities. He warned that even if any member of BNP is found involved in wrongdoing, they will not be spared.
He said, “Whoever is involved in any kind of illegal, unethical, or violent activity they will not be spared. Whenever any incident occurs, we do not hesitate to investigate and take organizational action immediately. Measures are taken without delay.”
He made these remarks during a press conference at BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan on Friday (July 4).
He further warned that no one should dare to behave violently — not within the party, not with neighbors, nor with anyone else. “Since August 5, 2024, whenever we have received any complaints, we have taken prompt action in all such cases. They will not be spared.”
He added that the party’s Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, regularly monitors what is happening in the name of the party and what actions are being taken.
Rizvi said, “We have taken action against four to five thousand leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations for violating party discipline and engaging in wrongful activities.”

He mentioned that whenever there is any allegation against any leader or activist of the party or its affiliated organizations, action is taken immediately. “In this regard, the BNP and its leadership are uncompromising. Tarique Rahman is enforcing this with a zero tolerance policy.”
Rizvi emphasized that anyone committing an offense whether a leader or a member of the party must face consequences. “These steps are being taken to ensure that no one within the party is involved in terrorism or illegal activities.”
Reaffirming the party’s permanent commitment to democratic principles, Rizvi stated that the BNP has been continuously struggling for democracy for the past 16 years. “BNP has been continuing its movement against the authoritarian regime of Sheikh Hasina, which has buried democracy. Despite severe repression, our party has never backed down.”
Reiterating the party’s demand for an immediate, free, and fair national election, he said, “Only a truly free and fair election will reflect the BNP’s popularity.”
