Nurul Haque Nur, president of the Ganadhikar Parishad, has warned that rushing into elections without reforms could lead to another mass uprising in the country. He made this statement while participating in the national dialogue titled “National Unity is Essential for National Security” on Sunday (July 6).

He said that security can be strengthened through national unity. He pointed out ongoing issues related to national security, such as the Chittagong Hill Tracts conflict, which has caused unrest for 50 years since the country’s independence and remains unresolved.

He also mentioned that changes in government often lead to changes in foreign policy. Therefore, there must be consensus on where unity should be maintained.

Nur emphasized that everyone must clearly oppose the return of the corrupt authoritarian politics of the Awami League. Otherwise, they may conspire with foreign powers to destabilize the country.
