Imagine getting rewarded just for sleeping properly! That dream came true for Pooja Madhav Waval from Pune, India. By sleeping 9 hours a night for 60 days, she won nearly 1.3 million Bangladeshi Taka and earned the title of “Sleep Champion.”

A Unique Sleep Internship

Every year, this unusual internship is organized in Bengaluru, India. The goal is to raise awareness about the importance of sleep and sleep-related disorders. Participants are monitored using sleep trackers and Wakefit mattresses to assess the quality of their sleep.

Now in its fourth year, this internship featured 15 participants. Among them, Pooja secured the top position with a score of 91.36. The remaining 14 participants each received a symbolic reward of just 1 rupee.

How Does the Internship Work?

This is a research-based competition where selected participants are challenged to sleep 9 hours daily for two months, following specific guidelines. It’s not just about sleeping; participants are also engaged in interactive tasks designed to test and improve sleep quality. These include attending sleep education workshops, making the bed while blindfolded, and finding hidden alarm clocks.

Who Can Apply?

  • Applicants must be at least 22 years old
  • Each person can apply only once
  • Incomplete or late applications will be disqualified
  • Previous season participants are not eligible
  • All updates are provided via SMS, WhatsApp, and email

Sleep Is Not to Be Taken Lightly

This internship sends a powerful message—sleep is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. In the rush of modern life, we often neglect proper rest. But for both mental and physical well-being, quality sleep is essential.
