Police have recovered the body of an unidentified youth from the side of a road in the Demra-Amulia area of the capital. The deceased youth is estimated to be 26 years old. He was wearing a black T-shirt and olive-colored trousers.
The incident took place on Sunday (July 6) afternoon. The body was recovered by police from a place adjacent to the road next to the China Power Project in Demra-Amulia Model Town.

Demra Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Dipankar Kumar Debnath said,
‘খবর পেয়ে গতকাল রবিবার দুপুরে ডেমরা-আমুলিয়া মডেল টাউন চায়না বিদ্যুৎ প্রজেক্টের পাশে রাস্তার পাশ থেকে মরদেহটি উদ্ধার করা হয়। এ সময় মৃতদেহের দুই হাত পেছন দিকে বাঁধা ছিল। এ ছাড়া গলায় কাপড়ের বেল্ট বাধা ছিল। শরীরের বিভিন্ন জায়গায় জখমও রয়েছে।’
Translation: “Upon receiving the news, the body was recovered from the side of the road next to the Demra-Amulya Model Town China Power Project on Sunday afternoon. At that time, both hands of the body were tied behind. In addition, a cloth belt was tied around the neck. There were also injuries in various parts of the body.”
He further said,
‘প্রাথমিকভাবে ধারণা করা হচ্ছে, অজ্ঞাতনামা খুনি বা খুনিরা ওই যুবকের হাত বেঁধে শ্বাসরোধ করে হত্যা করে। পরে রাস্তার পাশে ফেলে রেখে গেছে। মরদেহ ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য ঢাকা মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতাল মর্গে পাঠানো হয়েছে। পরিচয় শনাক্তের চেষ্টা চলছে।’
Translation: “It is initially believed that the unidentified killer or killers tied the hands of the young man and strangled him to death. Later, they left him on the side of the road. The body has been sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Efforts are underway to identify him.”
