A prominent student leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) student wing, the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), has announced his resignation from the position of General Secretary. He cited personal reasons and deep frustration with the current political situation in Bangladesh.
Long Journey in Student Politics
The leader stated that he has been involved in politics for over 10 years, starting from his family’s political background. He has stood with the party during its toughest times, including the difficult period when his father was imprisoned in 2018, which forced him to live away from home for over two months. During this time, he secretly visited his mother at night and actively participated in many political movements including strikes and protests. he said,
“During the 2018 election, when my father was in jail (with 28 cases), I stayed away from home for over two months. I would secretly meet my mother early in the morning.”
He said his core motivation throughout his political career was a single dream:
“At the root of everything was one dream — building a new Bangladesh and a proper political environment.”

He was actively involved in the July protests and other movements aimed at bringing change.
Deep Disappointment After August 5 Events
However, after August 5, when the political scenario was expected to change for the better, he expressed deep disappointment:
“After August 5, instead of building the country beautifully, everyone engaged in selfish politics for their own benefit.”
He criticized all major political parties, including BNP, Jamaat, and NCP, accusing them of betrayal and corruption. He noted that promises of reform were broken, and the sacrifices made during July were forgotten.
Corruption and Betrayal in Local Politics
He revealed disturbing observations from his own upazila, Hatiya:
“The extent of extortion and the rehabilitation of Awami League leaders by NCP and BNP has never been seen before. Many leaders without clear sources of income have suddenly become wealthy overnight.”
He pointed out how some young leaders, like Hannan Masud from NCP, have amassed large fortunes through corrupt practices. Jamaat was also accused of engaging in dirty politics after August 5 by using powerful government positions.
Recognition of Honest Politicians
Despite the widespread corruption, he acknowledged the presence of some sincere and dedicated politicians in every party, offering sympathy to them. But overall, he declared their collective failure:
“We who have dreamed of fair and democratic politics and a developed Bangladesh have failed. It is our misfortune.”
Apology and Future Intentions
He apologized to everyone if he had ever caused harm unintentionally and asked for forgiveness. He clearly stated:
“I no longer wish to be a tool of any political party. My politics began with a desire to do good for people, but now I feel that is not possible here.”
He expressed his intent to serve people selflessly from outside politics:
“When the call for a transparent Bangladesh rises again, I will stand alongside you at the front of the march, even if I become the first to face the bullets.”
He ended with a heartfelt wish for peace in the country and a call for unity.
Final Words
The leader emphasized that he holds no political ties anymore but welcomes personal relationships with anyone. He asked for prayers from all and wants to live as a good person in the love and care of people.
