NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah has strongly criticized the current state of politics in Bangladesh, accusing of creating a culture of violence, corruption, and fear. Speaking at a recent political event, he expressed deep concern over what he called a return to a “dark age” of political brutality.
“We Will Not Let the Country Fall into Darkness Again”
In his speech, Hasnat Abdullah said that the people of Bangladesh have already endured too much oppression and injustice. He warned against allowing the country to enter another phase of political darkness.
“After going through so much ignorance, oppression, and cruelty, we will not let the country enter into a new era of darkness again.”

Referring to past incidents of violence, Hasnat Abdullah accused the Awami League of reviving a brutal political culture that involves killing and celebrating over the dead.
“Those who have brought back the culture of killing with sticks and dancing over dead bodies — the people will decide where to throw them.”
Hasnat made it clear that politics and terrorism should never exist side by side. He stressed that such a mix is harmful for the nation and must be stopped.
“Terrorism and politics cannot go together.”
Sharp Words for Rumeen Farhana and Her Role in Party Politics
He also criticized BNP leader Rumeen Farhana, accusing her of weakening the party from within. According to Hasnat, her emotional appeals about breaking the party headquarters at 32 (a reference to the house of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32) show that the party has become a safe haven for extortionists.
“From the day Rumeen Farhana started her emotional outcry to destroy 32, I knew the party had turned into a sanctuary for extortionists.”
Public Will Decide the Future
In his concluding remarks, Hasnat Abdullah said it is now up to the people to choose whether they want a country ruled by fear and corruption or one that stands for justice and democracy.
