Bangladeshi politician and former member of parliament Golam Mawla Rony has recently warned of the possibility of a strong reaction to the obscene, indecent and ugly slogans raised on the streets against Tarique Rahman.In a status posted on social media Facebook on Saturday (July 12), he said,
“যারা টিনের চালে কাওয়া তারেক রহমান…, ১২৩৪ তারেক রহমানের…, কিংবা ‘চাঁদা দেই পল্টনে, চলে যায় লন্ডনে’— এমন অশালীন স্লোগানে রাজপথ, এমনকি বুয়েট ও ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কাঁপাচ্ছেন, তাদের নেতাদের বিরুদ্ধেও যদি ছাত্রদল ও যুবদল একই ধরণের পাল্টা স্লোগানে নামে, তাহলে রাজনীতি আর শুধু স্লোগানে সীমাবদ্ধ থাকবে না।”
Translation: “If Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal raise similar counter-slogans against the leaders of those who are shaking the streets, even BUET and Dhaka University, with indecent slogans like ‘Tarique Rahman, who was killed by a tin can…’, ‘1234 Tarique Rahman…’, or ‘Donate to Paltan, go to London’, then politics will no longer be limited to slogans.”
He also warned, saying,
“এভাবে চলতে থাকলে অতীতের মতো খুর, চাপাতি, রামদা, রগকাটা, কাঁটা বন্দুক, গুলি, বোমার অধ্যায় পেরিয়ে একে-৪৭, স্নাইপার দিয়ে নতুন সহিংসতার অধ্যায় শুরু হতে পারে।”
Translation: “If this continues, a new chapter of violence may begin with AK-47s and snipers, going beyond the past chapter of hoofs, chapatis, ramdas, blood-slitting, barbed guns, bullets, and bombs.”

Golam Maula Roni expressed his concern and said,
এতে করে সবচেয়ে বেশি লাভবান হবে সেই চক্র, যারা চায় বাংলাদেশকে জঙ্গি রাষ্ট্র বানিয়ে জাতিসংঘের শান্তি রক্ষী পাঠাতে চায়।
Translation: The ones who will benefit the most from this are the groups that want to turn Bangladesh into a terrorist state and send UN peacekeepers.
