The party organized an emergency press conference immediately after the cocktail explosion in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan in the capital. BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi addressed the press conference held last night. He raised sharp questions towards the government and law enforcement agencies regarding the explosion.
There he asked, ‘শেখ হাসিনা গত ১৬ বছর পারে নাই, আপনারা দুই-একটা ককটেল মেরে বিএনপিকে ভয় দেখান?’
Translation: “Sheikh Hasina has not been able to do this for the last 16 years, are you trying to scare the BNP by throwing a cocktail or two?”
Rizvi said,
আপনারা যে পথে হাঁটছেন এটা শেখ হাসিনার পথ। তারা শেখ হাসিনার পথে হাঁটছে আর ভাবছে এই পথ সাকসেস। এই পথ যদি সাকসেস হতো তাহলে তো বিএনপি নিশ্চিহ্ন হয়ে যেত।
Translation: The path you are walking is Sheikh Hasina’s path. They are walking on Sheikh Hasina’s path and think this path is success. If this path had been success, then BNP would have been wiped out.

He said,
বিএনপিকে দমন করা যায়নি। শতশত মামলা বোমা মেরে কিংবা ককটেল মেরে বিএনপি নেতাকর্মীদের দমানো যায়নি। বিএনপিকে কেউ দমন করতে পারবে না।
Translation: BNP could not be suppressed. BNP leaders and activists could not be suppressed by filing hundreds of cases or by using cocktails. No one can suppress BNP.
Rizvi alleged that with many incidents,
অনেক ঘটনার সাথে রাষ্ট্রের গভীর থেকে পরিকল্পিতভাবে অস্থিতিশীল পরিস্থিতি সৃষ্টি করা হচ্ছে। পানি ঘোলা করে লাভ নাই।
Translation: An unstable situation is being created from deep within the state in a planned manner. There is no point in muddying the waters.
According to initial information, no casualties were reported in the cocktail explosion incident. However, panic spread among the nearby transport passengers and pedestrians immediately after the incident. Many people were scared and quickly left the area and moved to a safe place.
In this regard, Paltan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nasirul Amin confirmed the incident and told the media that the police are monitoring the explosion and necessary measures are being taken.
