Rakibul Islam Rakib, the president of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chatradal (JCD), said that despite offensive slogans being raised against the top leader of BNP, the party successfully kept its hundreds of thousands of student activists calm.

He made these remarks on Monday, July 14, while taking part in a protest rally at Nayapaltan in the capital, organized to denounce the deteriorating law and order situation across the country.

Denying any link between general students and mob culture, Rakibul Islam Rakib issued a warning: “If in the future any such destabilizing incidents take place involving campus-crossing issues or the creation of mobs, the responsibility will lie with the underground organizations behind them.”

He further added, “In the coming years, when questions are raised about this government and its accountability for inciting mobs, both the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami (Shibir) and the current regime will have to bear the burden of responsibility.”

Rakib criticized certain students, stating, “A few students have disrespected and insulted the image of the martyred President Ziaur Rahman. But the general student body has not sided with them.”

He emphasized the belief that students recognize the contributions of the late President Ziaur Rahman and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. “The student community understands that Tarique Rahman’s leadership is essential for building the future of Bangladesh and safeguarding the nation’s independence and sovereignty. That’s why they did not fall into this trap.”

They organized this protest rally to voice their opposition against the worsening law and order situation, attempts to spread unrest among the public, and the deliberate destruction of the peaceful educational environment in academic institutions.
