Woman Fatally Struck in Dhaka Amid Reckless Race Between Two Buses

Tasnim Jahan, also known as Irene, was tragically killed by a bus in Badda, Dhaka. She worked as an Information Technology (IT) officer in the Badda region. Recently, at the age of 24, Tasnim moved to Dhaka after completing her studies at the University of Science and Technology in Sylhet.

Tasnim’s elder sister, Nusrat Jahan (28), was injured during the accident. She was also employed at Next Benchar.

According to Sub-Inspector Fatima Siddiqa, the two sisters were crossing Progoti in Central Badda at 9:00 AM on Wednesday morning when they were struck by an Akash Transport bus, which was competing with another bus. Tasnim died at the scene, while Nusrat was seriously injured and subsequently admitted to a private hospital.

In connection with the incident, two buses were seized, and one bus driver was taken into custody, though his identity remains unknown. To verify the facts, Tasnim’s body was transported to Dhaka Medical College and returned to his family later that day.

Tasnim was the daughter of SM Saiful Alam from Manikkhali village in Borguna, and she resided with her family in Pallavinagar, Mirpur.

In an interview with Prothom Alo, Tasnim’s father, Saiful Alam, expressed her grief, stating, “I have three daughters and one son. Two of my daughters had jobs in Badda. This morning, they left for work, and I later learned that they had both been victims of a bus accident.”
