In celebration of July People’s Uprising Day, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has announced “Free Internet Day” on Friday, July 18. All mobile users across Bangladesh will receive 1GB of free internet data, valid for 5 days, to mark this special occasion.
Why Free Internet is Being Offered
The initiative aims to make the day memorable and encourage public participation. According to officials, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has already directed all mobile operators to implement this decision and ensure proper service to all customers.

What the BTRC Said
Brigadier General S.M. Moniruzzaman, Director General of BTRC’s Spectrum Division, confirmed the move.
He mentioned that the instruction was given to operators after a meeting chaired by the Vice-Chairman of the Commission on July 8. The final directive was issued on July 9, asking all mobile operators to provide the 1GB free data on July 18, usable for five days.
How to Get the Free Internet
To claim the free data, users must dial a specific code based on their mobile operator:

Once dialled, users will receive 1GB of data valid for five days.
Public Awareness Campaign
BTRC also instructed that the announcement must be displayed on TV scrolls to raise awareness. The message to be shown on-screen is:
“In remembrance of the July People’s Uprising, all mobile users will receive 1GB free data valid for 5 days on July 18. To claim, dial GP: 1211807#, Robi: 41807#, Banglalink: 1211807#, Teletalk: 1111807#. — Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.”
