A CGPA of 2.57 often dismissed as academic failure did not stop Md. Saad Hossain from securing one of the most competitive and prestigious scholarships in the world, the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree.

A graduate from the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology at East West University, Saad defied the long-standing notion that only top grades open international doors.

In 2024, he was awarded the fully funded Erasmus Mundus scholarship. Today, he continues his academic journey at the renowned Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Germany.

While many students give up on their ambitions due to disappointing grades, Saad did the opposite. He reflected on his mistakes, focused on skill-building, and shaped a profile that highlighted what matters most curiosity, determination, and growth. His mindset, not his CGPA, carried him forward.

Saad’s story is not just about academic success or scholarships, it’s about rewriting the rules. It’s a loud and clear message to every student who’s ever felt discouraged by a number: your grades don’t define your future your mindset does.

For those struggling with self-doubt, Saad’s journey is a reminder to dream bigger, work smarter, and never stop believing in yourself. Opportunities don’t always knock on the doors of the highest scorers they find those who are willing to rise after falling.
