“Even If Attacked in 10 More Districts, We Will Not Be Silenced”: Nahid Islam

Nahid Islam

Nahid Islam, the convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has announced that his party is preparing for another round of political struggle. Speaking at a rally in Munshiganj on Friday, he said attacks in more districts won’t stop them from fighting against what he called a fascist regime.

“We were attacked in Gopalganj. Even if attacks happen in 10 more districts, we cannot be suppressed.”

A Battle Against ‘Mujibism’ and Authoritarianism

During the July procession and street meeting in Munshiganj town around 1 PM, Nahid declared that their political movement against the ruling ideology and authoritarianism would continue until victory.

“The war we’ve declared through mass uprising against Mujibism and fascism will not stop until it is won.”

He assured supporters that divine support and public trust were on their side and encouraged them to remain fearless.

“The Almighty is with us, and so are the people. There is no reason to be afraid.”

Highlighting Local Issues in Munshiganj

Nahid Islam also addressed critical problems facing Munshiganj, including illegal sand mining, river erosion, poor road conditions, and a weak healthcare system.

“In this Munshiganj, there is river erosion and extortion… we will save people from these disasters.”

He promised to bring significant reforms to healthcare and create more opportunities for education and employment in the district.

“There is a crisis of education and employment here… we must build a culture of protest across the region.”

Support for Expatriate Voting Rights

The NCP leader also emphasized the importance of voting rights for Bangladeshi expatriates, many of whom come from Munshiganj.

“We say that expatriates are a part of the nation, and we will ensure their voting rights.”
