In a heartbreaking update following the tragic air crash in Uttara, another life has been lost. Masuka Begum Nipu, a dedicated teacher at Milestone School and College, has died from severe burn injuries sustained during the plane crash.

Masuka Begum passed away at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at around 12:30 a.m. on Monday night, July 21.

She was laid to rest on Tuesday, July 22, in Sohagpur village of Ashuganj upazila in Brahmanbaria, at her elder sister’s home — fulfilling her final wish.

Final Moments and Last Wish

According to her family members, Masuka Begum’s body was handed over to her elder sister Papri Rahman at around 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday from the burn institute.

In her final hours, she shared a heartfelt wish with another teacher being treated on a nearby hospital bed — to be buried at her sister’s house in Sohagpur after death. That wish was honored with deep emotion by her family and friends.

No Family by Her Side—A Colleague Stepped In

In a deeply emotional statement, her colleague Safayet Dhali recounted the critical hours following the crash. “There was no family member with her when the accident happened. I took the responsibility and admitted her to the hospital,” he said. His timely intervention ensured that Masuka received immediate care.

The loss of Masuka Begum has cast a long shadow over the Milestone School community. Her students, colleagues, and loved ones remember her as a kind-hearted, responsible, and devoted teacher. Though unmarried and childless, she lived for her students, always prioritizing education and discipline.

Her tragic death as a plane crash victim highlights not only the fragility of life but also the heroism and humanity that shine through in moments of unspeakable sorrow.
