Two Chittagong University Teacher Candidates Test Positive in Dope Test

Chittagong University

Two candidates who were about to be appointed as lecturers at Chittagong University have tested positive in the mandatory dope test. Both candidates have denied taking any drugs and claimed it may have been due to medications or a conspiracy. The university administration has made it clear that no one testing positive in a dope test will be hired.

Two Final Candidates Found Positive in Drug Test

Two candidates named Imrul Asad and Golam Rabbani, who were selected for the post of Lecturer in the Department of Drama, have tested positive in their dope test, as confirmed by the Chief Medical Officer of Chittagong University Medical Centre, Dr. Mohammad Abu Taiyab.

(“These two candidates gave their dope test at the university medical centre. Their results came out positive. I have informed the university administration about this.”)

Over 50 Candidates Sat for the Job Exam

According to reports, around 50 candidates applied for three vacant lecturer positions in the Drama department. After a three-step examination, three candidates were selected for appointment and their recruitment was later approved by the syndicate.

As per rules, after the final approval, selected candidates must submit a medical certificate to officially join their posts. This certificate now includes a mandatory drug test result.

Acting Registrar Confirms Dope Test Policy

The Acting Registrar of Chittagong University, Professor Mohammad Saiful Islam, confirmed that candidates who test positive in dope tests will not be eligible for appointment.

(“We have heard about the positive dope test. Anyone who tests positive as per university policy cannot be appointed as a teacher.”)

Imrul Asad Demands Retest

Candidate Imrul Asad denied the result and said he suspects there may have been a mistake in the test. He has already taken steps to retake the test at Chittagong Medical College.

(“There might have been a mistake. I am doing the test again at Chittagong Medical College.”)

Golam Rabbani Claims Conspiracy

Candidate Golam Rabbani has alleged that the test result might be due to medicine he took recently for illness. He also claimed that a conspiracy may be behind this to harm the university’s reputation and cancel his appointment.

(“I was ill recently and took medicine. That might be the reason. Also, some people might be plotting to ruin the reputation of the university by creating conspiracy around this recruitment. I will appeal and take the test again if needed.”)

Drug Test Now Mandatory for All Appointments

Chittagong University has recently made it mandatory for all appointees — whether they are teachers, students, officers, or employees — to submit both a medical certificate and a dope test result before joining.

This decision was reinforced by the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of the university, Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan, who said:

(“For any kind of appointment in this university—teacher, student, officer, or staff—a dope test is now mandatory. If anyone tests positive, we will not appoint them under any circumstance.”)
