The government of Bangladesh is planning to launch Starlink satellite internet in 100 schools across the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) within six months. The goal is to provide better access to digital education for students in remote and hilly areas. This move is expected to bring a major technological shift in education, promote equal learning opportunities, and ensure inclusive development.
Government to Bring Satellite Internet to Remote Schools
To improve digital education and e-learning in remote hilly areas, the government is preparing to introduce Starlink satellite internet in 100 schools of the Chittagong Hill Tracts within the next six months.
Parbatya Chattogram Affairs Advisor Supradip Chakma said this project will bring a technological revolution in education.
“এই উদ্যোগ শিক্ষাক্ষেত্রে প্রযুক্তিগত এক বিপ্লব হবে।”

Equal Access to Quality Education for Hill Students
Through this initiative, students in remote areas will be able to join online classes conducted by experienced teachers from urban schools. This will help reduce the education gap between remote and urban areas.
“দুর্গম পাহাড়ি এলাকার শিক্ষার্থীরা অনলাইনে শহরের অভিজ্ঞ শিক্ষকদের ক্লাসে অংশ নিতে পারবে। এতে শিক্ষার মানে সমতা নিশ্চিত হবে।”
“Students from remote hill areas will be able to attend online classes by experienced city teachers. This will ensure equality in the quality of education.”

Preparing Students for the Future
Supradip Chakma emphasized that this plan would help students become skilled in technology and will support their higher education and careers.
“এই উদ্যোগ পাহাড়ি শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রযুক্তিতে দক্ষ করে তুলবে, যা তাদের উচ্চশিক্ষা ও কর্মজীবনে সহায়ক হবে।”
“This initiative will make hill students tech-savvy, which will support their higher education and professional life.”
Building Better Institutions in the Hill Region
Supradip Chakma mentioned the need to establish quality schools and colleges in the region to ensure standard education and enable competition with other areas.
“আমার মূল চিন্তা-ভাবনা হচ্ছে- পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রামে মানসম্পন্ন শিক্ষা নিশ্চিত করা।”
“My main concern is to ensure quality education in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.”
“আমরা সবসময় কোটা পাবো না। প্রতিযোগিতা করতে হলে কিছু ভালো স্কুল-কলেজ গড়ে তুলতে হবে।”
“We won’t always get quota benefits. To compete, we need to build some good schools and colleges.”
Satellite-Based Education and Infrastructure Plans
The advisor mentioned a plan to set up hostels at the district and sub-district levels to support a satellite-based education system.
“আমার প্রধান চিন্তা স্যাটেলাইট শিক্ষাব্যবস্থা। এজন্য উপজেলা ও জেলা পর্যায়ে হোস্টেল নির্মাণ করতে হবে।”
“My top priority is satellite education. For that, we need to build hostels at the upazila and district levels.”
Additionally, the government is also planning to build engineering colleges, nursing colleges, hostels, orphanages, and dormitories in the hill areas.
Economic Development Through Bamboo and Farming
To make the hill people economically self-reliant, the government has initiated a three-year bamboo farming plan and projects for livestock and fish farming.

Environment-Friendly Development
Supradip Chakma stressed that all development will be done while preserving nature and the environment.
“আমরা প্রকৃতি ও পরিবেশ অক্ষুণ্ন রেখেই পাহাড়ি অঞ্চল উন্নয়ন করতে চাই।”
“We want to develop the hill region while keeping nature and the environment intact.”

New Crops for a Better Economy
The government has also started projects for cashew nuts, coffee, and maize cultivation in the hilly areas to increase income and improve livelihoods.
“আমরা চাই, পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রামের তিন জেলায় উৎপাদিত কফি ও কাজু বাদামের উৎপাদন সারাদেশে এবং আন্তর্জাতিকভাবে ছড়িয়ে দিতে।”
“We want to promote coffee and cashew nut production from the three hill districts across the country and internationally.”
Ensuring Rights and Equality for All Communities
Supradip Chakma emphasized that the government is committed to protecting the rights of all communities and creating an inclusive society.
“এই সরকারের লক্ষ্য হচ্ছে সকল সম্প্রদায়ের অধিকার রক্ষা এবং একটি অসাম্প্রদায়িক বাংলাদেশ গড়ে তোলা।”
“The goal of this government is to protect the rights of all communities and build a non-communal Bangladesh.”
Utilizing the Potential of Kaptai Lake
He highlighted the economic importance of Kaptai Lake and called it a “golden resource” for fish farming and national development.
“এই জলাশয় থেকে মাছ আহরণের মাধ্যমে দেশের অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়ন সম্ভব।”
“It is possible to boost the national economy by harvesting fish from this lake.”
Sports and Inclusive Growth for the Youth
Finally, the government is also working to build a better sports environment for students in the region, to ensure overall development and engagement of all.
“সরকার পার্বত্য এলাকার শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য একটি উন্নত ও সহায়ক ক্রীড়া পরিবেশ গড়ে তোলার লক্ষ্যে নিরলস চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে।”
