A violent clash broke out again between students at Dhaka College and Dhaka City College in the Science Lab area of Dhaka on Wednesday morning, August 20, 2025. At least five students were injured and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
According to police, the fight started around 11:30 am after a minor incident but quickly escalated. Witnesses said a student’s shirt was pulled, which triggered the clash.

New Market Police Station OC A.K.M. Mahfuzul Haque confirmed the matter and said:
“Five students from the two colleges were injured. Last Tuesday, Dhaka City College students assaulted two Dhaka College students, and today’s clash was a continuation of that incident. Police have been deployed to control the situation.”
The conflict between the two colleges is not new and has a long history. A student from Dhaka City College even remarked:
“That college doesn’t have girls, so we go there to fight.”
