A covered van overturned and crushed a private car at the North Rampur U-turn on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Comilla on Friday afternoon. Four members of the same family were killed in the accident, Omar Ali (80), his wife Nurjahan Begum (65), and their eldest sons Abul Hashem (50) and Abul Kashem (45). Three passengers of a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw were injured. The bodies of the deceased were recovered by the fire service and police, and the injured were admitted to the Comilla Medical College Hospital.
A tragic road accident occurred on Friday noon at the Uttar Rampur U-turn of the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, where a covered van overturned and crushed a private car, leaving four members of the same family dead.

Victims Identified
The family was from Mudaffarganj in Laksham upazila of Cumilla. Highway Police Sub-Inspector Anisur Rahman confirmed the casualties. The deceased were identified as:

Cause of the Accident
Eyewitnesses reported that the private car was taking a U-turn from the city towards Laksham Road when the incident occurred. At that moment, a covered van traveling towards Dhaka lost control while trying to avoid a bus coming from the opposite direction. The van overturned, crushing both the private car and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, causing fatalities and injuries.
Rescue teams from the Fire Service and Highway Police reached the spot around 2 pm and recovered the four bodies trapped inside the private car. Three passengers of the auto-rickshaw were injured in the accident and were immediately taken to Cumilla Medical College Hospital for treatment. The accident also caused a long traffic jam on the busy highway until vehicles were removed from the scene.
