Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP Secretary General said that no change is possible without structural reforms in the country. Stating that nothing can be done without specific goals and thoughts, he said that corruption has now spread in every field in Bangladesh. New opportunities have been created through the mass uprising of students and the public, which requires the sincerity of the political party to utilize.
Specific goals and thinking needed
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that to bring about any change, specific goals and thinking are needed first. He said,
৫২ বছরে আমরা ক্ষমতার পরিবর্তনের বিধানই পরিবর্তন করতে পারিনি। হঠাৎ করে এসে আজ সব পরিবর্তন করে ফেলব, এমনটি মনে করি না। কিছু করতে হলে সুনির্দিষ্টি লক্ষ্য ও চিন্তা দরকার। বিচ্ছিন্নভাবে জোড়াতালি দিয়ে কিছু করা যায় না।
Translation: In 52 years, we have not been able to change the rules of power transfer. I don’t think we will suddenly come and change everything today. To do something, specific goals and thoughts are needed. Nothing can be done in isolation and by clapping.
Emphasis on structural reforms
At an event in the capital on Saturday (August 23), Fakhrul said that reforming the country’s existing structures is essential. He said,
‘আমাদের কাঠামোটা সংস্কার করা দরকার। কাঠামোটা বদলাতে হবে। গুরুত্বের সঙ্গে বিবেচনা করতে হবে।আমরা লাগাব বেগুন গাছ, আসা করব কমলালেবু তা তো হবে না। আমাদের সিস্টেমটা পরিবর্তন করতে হবে।’
Translation: “We need to reform our structure. We need to change the structure. We need to consider it seriously. If we plant brinjal trees but we want orange from that tree, it won’t happen. We need to change our system.”

Corruption is the biggest crisis
The BNP Secretary General mentioned that one of the biggest crises in Bangladesh is corruption, which has spread to every field. He said,
‘বাংলাদেশের সংকটের অন্যতম কারণ হলো দুর্নীতি। প্রতিটি ক্ষেত্রে দুর্নীতি।ধীরে ধীরে এটা আরো খারাপের দিকে গেছে।’
Translation: “One of the reasons for the crisis in Bangladesh is corruption. Corruption in every field. It has gradually gotten worse.”
He further said,
‘বাংলাদেশে সংসদ সদস্যদের আইন প্রণয়ন করার কথা। সেই জায়গায় তিনি কোথায় কি ডেভেলপমেন্ট হচ্ছে তা নিয়ে পড়ে থাকেন।’
Translation: “In Bangladesh, members of parliament are supposed to enact laws. In that place, they read about what development is happening.”
New opportunity in mass uprising
Mirza Fakhrul said based on this topic that,
‘ছাত্র-জনতার গণ-অভ্যুত্থানে এবার নতুন সুযোগ সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। আমাদের সমাজে যে বৈষম্য, শোসন— এগুলো ঠিক করার একটা সুযোগ তৈরি হয়েছে।রাজনৈতিক দলের আন্তরিকতা প্রয়োজন। এই সুযোগটা ব্যবহার করে আমরা আমাদের যেন লক্ষ্যের কাছাকাছি নিয়ে যেতে পারি।’
Translation: “A new opportunity has been created in the mass uprising of the students and the public. An opportunity has been created to fix the inequality and oppression in our society. The sincerity of the political parties is needed. By using this opportunity, we can take ourselves closer to our goal.”
