The CID has arrested Tawhid Afridi, son of controversial content creator and My TV owner Nasir Uddin Sathi. He was arrested in a special operation in Banglabazar, Barisal metropolis, on Sunday (August 24) night. He is an accused in the murder case filed by Jatrabari Police Station in the capital. Earlier, on August 17, the police also arrested his father Nasir Uddin Sathi in the same case. A video was viral on social media where he said that he was just scared because his wife is six months pregnant. Based on this Elias Hossain who is a journalist posted on his social media.
Arrest incident
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police has arrested Tawhid Afridi, the son of controversial content creator and owner of My TV Nasir Uddin Sathi. He was arrested in a special raid at a house in Banglabazar area of Barisal metropolis on Sunday (August 24) night.
Video viral and emotional statement
A video of the arrest has already gone viral on social media. In the video, Tawhid Afridi is seen saying,
‘আমি শুধু ভয় পাইতেছি আমার স্ত্রীটা ছয়মাসের প্রেগন্যান্ট।’
Translation: “I am just scared, my wife is six months pregnant.”
At that time, one wanted to know if the house was rented. In response, he said that it was his uncle’s, his grandfather’s house. He had come to visit his grandfather’s grave in his father’s condition.
He also said that he had sworn on the Holy Quran that he would not run away. Later, while getting into the car, he asked,
‘আমরা ডিবিতে যাচ্ছি না?’
Translation: “Aren’t we going to DB?”
At that time, those concerned from the side said that it was a CID raid.

Police statement
Barisal Kotwali Model Police Station OC Mizanur Rahman said,
ঢাকার একটি মামলায় সিআইডি ঢাকার একটি দল অভিযান চালিয়ে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে তৌহিদ আফ্রিদিকে। অভিযানে কোতোয়ালি পুলিশ তাদের সহয়তা করলেও মামলার ব্যাপারে তারা বিস্তারিত কিছু জানেন না এবং সেখান থেকে রাতেই তাকে ঢাকার উদ্দেশ্যে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় বলে জানান ওসি।
Translation: “A team from CID Dhaka conducted a raid in a case in Dhaka and arrested Towhid Afridi . We only assisted. We do not know the details of the case. He was taken to Dhaka at night.”

CID’s media wing’s Superintendent of Police Jasim Uddin said,
জুলাই অভ্যুত্থানে রাজধানীর যাত্রাবাড়ী থানার হত্যা মামলায় রোববার রাতে তৌহিদ আফ্রিদিকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়েছে।
Translation: Towhid Afridi was arrested on Sunday night in a murder case filed by the capital’s Jatrabari Police Station during the July coup.
Towhid Afridi is accused number 11 in the complaint in this case. The case was filed by Md. Joynal Abedin. A total of 25 people, including his father Nasir Uddin Sathi, have been accused in it.
Earlier on August 17, the police arrested My TV owner Nasir Uddin Sathi from Gulshan in the capital. He was shown arrested in the Asadul Haque Babu murder case of Jatrabari Police Station. The next day, on August 18, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ziauddin Ahmed’s court granted him a 5-day remand.

Based on this incident Elias Hossain, a journalist posted on his social media and explain his doubt about his wife’s permanency. He wrote,
তৌহিদ আফ্রিদি বিয়ে করেছে তিন মাস আগে আর তার বউ ৬ মাসের অন্তঃসত্ত্বা! ৫ তারিখের পর দেশ থেকে পা’লিয়ে যায় আফ্রিদি এরপর এপ্রিলে সে দেশে ফিরে আসে৷ এখন আগস্ট মাস তার মানে ৪ মাস আগে আফ্রিদি দেশে এসেছিলো তাহলে ৬ মাসের বাচ্চা কিভাবে পয়দা হুয়া৷
Translation: Towhid Afridi got married three months ago and his wife is 6 months pregnant! Afridi fled the country after the 5th and then returned to the country in April. Now it is August, which means Afridi came to the country 4 months ago, so how did he have a 6-month-old baby?
