Election is Inevitable
BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has said that the next general election, expected in February, cannot be stopped by anyone.
He stated,
“কেউ নির্বাচন ঠেকাতে পারবে না। একমাত্র আল্লাহ রাব্বুল আল আমিন ছাড়া।”
Translation: “No one can stop the election, except Allah Rabbul Alamin.”
Salahuddin Ahmed made the remarks on Saturday (August 30) while speaking as the chief guest at the Netrakona district BNP conference.
People Are Focused on Elections
The BNP leader explained that people across the country are now preparing for elections. If anyone tries to oppose or block the election process, ordinary citizens will not support them.
He said,
“দেশের মানুষ এখন নির্বাচনমুখী। কেউ নির্বাচনের বিরোধিতা করলে বাংলাদেশের জনগণ তাদের প্রত্যাখ্যান করবে।”
Translation: “The people of the country are now election oriented. If anyone opposes the election, the people of Bangladesh will reject them.”

Reforms for a Democratic Future
Salahuddin Ahmed also highlighted BNP’s reform plans. He mentioned that the party is working on both constitutional and democratic reforms to ensure that dictatorship or fascism can never return in Bangladesh.
He stated,
“আমরা সাংবিধানিক সংস্কার করছি। রাষ্ট্র কাঠামোর গণতান্ত্রিক সংস্কার করছি। একটি লক্ষ্য নিয়েই সংস্কার করছি, যাতে এই দেশে আর কোনোদিন ফ্যাসিবাদের জন্ম না হয়।”
Translation: “We are working on constitutional reforms. We are reforming the democratic structure of the state. Our goal is to ensure that fascism never arises in this country again.”
Timeline for Election
According to Salahuddin, the next general election will be held before Ramadan in 2026. He warned that false excuses should not be used to disrupt the election.
He said,
“আগামী ২০২৬ সালের রমজানের আগেই নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। কেউ নির্বাচন ঠেকাতে পারবে না। একমাত্র আল্লাহ রাব্বুল আল আমিন ছাড়া।”
Translation: “The election will be held before Ramadan in 2026. No one can stop it, except Allah Rabbul Alamin.”
People Will Reject Election Opponents
The BNP leader also alleged that some groups are trying to create obstacles to the election using weak excuses. However, he believes that the environment for elections is already set, and candidates have started campaigning.
He added,
“দেশে নির্বাচনী আবহ তৈরি হয়েছে। প্রার্থীরা গণসংযোগ শুরু করেছে। এখন যদি কেউ নির্বাচন বিরোধী বক্তব্য দেয় তবে জনগণ তাদের প্রত্যাখ্যান করবে।”
Translation: “The election atmosphere has been created in the country. Candidates have started mass communication. If anyone now speaks against the election, the people will reject them.”
