Sudden Death During Vote Counting
A tragic incident took place at Jahangirnagar University when a polling officer collapsed and died during the vote counting of the JUCSU (Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union) and hall elections.
The deceased was Jannatul Ferdous, a lecturer in the university’s Fine Arts department. She was serving as a polling officer for the JUCSU central election and the Pritilata Hall election.

The Incident
On Friday morning (12 September), while sitting in the JUCSU election office, she suddenly felt unwell. Around 8:45 am, she collapsed in her chair while working.
Rescue Efforts
Her colleagues rushed to help, carrying her on a stretcher from the third floor to the ground floor. She was immediately placed in an ambulance and taken to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar.
However, doctors at the hospital declared her dead upon arrival.
A Shock for the University
The death of Jannatul Ferdous, while performing her election duties, has deeply saddened both students and teachers at Jahangirnagar University. What was meant to be a significant democratic event turned into a day of mourning after the tragic loss of a respected polling officer.
