Situation Getting Worse Every Day
BNP’s Assistant International Affairs Secretary Rumin Farhana said that Bangladesh is moving towards a dangerous situation. She pointed out that political, economic, social, and law-and-order conditions are declining day by day.
She said in a TV talk show:
“যত দিন যাচ্ছে ততই কিন্তু পরিস্থিতি ঘোলাটে হচ্ছে। যত দিন যাচ্ছে ততই দেশের পরিস্থিতি সেটা রাজনৈতিক, অর্থনৈতিক, সামাজিক আইনশৃঙ্খলার অবস্থা ধীরে ধীরে খারাপের দিকে যাচ্ছে।”
Translation: “As days go by, the situation is becoming more complicated. The political, economic, social, and law-and-order conditions are gradually getting worse.”
Decline in Investment and Rise of Mob Violence
Rumin Farhana warned that investors are not willing to put money in Bangladesh anymore because they want stability, which is missing in the country.
She said:
“বিনিয়োগ বন্ধ হয়ে আছে এবং আশঙ্কাজনক হারে বিনিয়োগ কমছে। কারণ যারা ইনভেস্ট করবে তারা একটা স্টেবল পলিটিক্যাল সিচুয়েশন দেখতে চায়। একটা স্টেবল পলিটিকাল গভর্মেন্ট দেখতে চায়।”
Translation: “Investments have stopped, and they are decreasing at an alarming rate. Investors want a stable political situation and a stable political government.”

She also highlighted the alarming rise of mob violence:
“দেশের অবস্থা শেষ। আপনি দেখেন ৩৭০টা না, ৩৮০টা মব হইছে গত ৩৬৫ দিনে। ৩৭০টা মব যদি ৩৬৫ দিনে হয়, ওই দেশে তো পাগলও বিনিয়োগ করবে না।”
Translation: “The condition of the country is finished. Just look—370 to 380 mobs in 365 days. If that happens, not even a mad person would want to invest here.”
Brain Drained and Educated Youth Leaving the Country
Rumin Farhana mentioned that educated people are leaving Bangladesh due to frustration.
“গত ৪০ বছরে একটা ভয়াবহ রকম ব্রেইন ড্রেন হয়ে গেছে বাংলাদেশ থেকে। শিক্ষিত সমাজের অধিকাংশ সন্তান দেশের বাইরে চলে গেছে।”
Translaton: “In the last 40 years, a terrible brain drain has happened from Bangladesh. Most children of educated families have gone abroad.”)
She added that even the remaining educated families are planning to leave:
“যে কয়জন শিক্ষিত পরিবার আছে তারাও… তারা দেশ ছেড়ে দিতে চাইছে।”
Translation: “The few educated families that remain… they too want to leave the country.”
Criticism of the Interim Government
Rumin sharply criticized members of the interim government, accusing them of enjoying power without responsibility.
“এই মানুষগুলো না পাওয়া ক্ষমতা আসলে পেয়ে গেছে। জীবনে কেউ তাদের চিনতো না… কিন্তু তারা এখন বড় বড় জায়গায় বসছে, বড় বড় কথা বলছে।”
Translation: “These people have gained a power they never deserved. Nobody knew them in their lifetime… but now they are sitting in big positions and talking big.”)
She alleged that instead of working for reforms and stability, they are busy enjoying the unexpected authority.
Comparison with Nepal
Giving an example of Nepal, she said their interim government focused only on holding elections quickly, unlike Bangladesh where “delays and excuses” continue.
“নেপালে মাত্র তিনজনের একটা মন্ত্রিসভা হয়েছে এবং শপথ পড়ার সাথে সাথে তারা বলেছে আমার নেক্সট মেইন কাজই হলো ইলেকশন।… আমরা কিন্তু সেটা বাংলাদেশে দেখছি না।”
Translation: “In Nepal, there was a three-member cabinet, and right after taking oath, they said their next main task was election… but we are not seeing that in Bangladesh.”
