Rumeen Farhana said that when Jamaat identifies someone as an enemy, it attacks that person in ways other parties in Bangladesh do not. She explained that Jamaat can target an opponent so thoroughly that no other political party would do the same.
“জামায়াতে ইসলামী যদি কাউকে শত্রু চিহ্নিত করে, তবে তাকে যেভাবে অ্যাটাক করবে তা বাংলাদেশের অন্য কোনো পার্টি করবে না।”
Translation:
“If Jamaat-e-Islami marks someone as an enemy, the way they will attack that person, no other party in Bangladesh will do.”
Jamaat is tightly organized and loyal — like an army, she said
Rumeen described Jamaat as an extremely well-organized political party. She said many of its workers, supporters and voters are “die-hard” — willing to live or die for the party and ready to follow party commands.
“পলিটিক্যাল পার্টি হিসেবে জামায়াতের কিছু কিছু বিষয় আমাদের বুঝতে হবে। ইটস ভেরি অর্গানাইজড পার্টি। ভেরি এক্সট্রেমলি ওয়েল অর্গানাইজ পার্টি। জামায়াতের যারা কর্মী সাথী সমর্থক ভোটার যারাই আছেন তারা কিন্তু ডাই হার্ট। তারা পার্টির জন্য বাঁচতেও পারে, মরতেও পারে। ডু এনিথিং ফর পার্টি।”
Translation:
“As a political party, we must understand some aspects of Jamaat. It is a very organized party. Very extremely well-organized. Its workers, associates, supporters and voters are die-hard. They can live for the party; they can die for the party. They will do anything for the party.”

Lack of judgment — following party orders like the military
She added that Jamaat members do not apply moral or ethical judgment; they simply follow party commands. She compared their discipline and training to that of some military forces.
“তারা কোনো ভালো মন্দ কোনো কিছু বিচারের মধ্যে নাই। পার্টির কমান্ড তারা মানবে। অনেকটা আমাদের মিলিটারির মতো। বিভিন্ন দেশের মিলিটারিরা যে ট্রেনিং এর মধ্যে দিয়ে যায় জামায়াত অনেকটা সেরকম এবং জামায়াতের আমির কিছুদিন আগে বলেছেন যে আমাদের দেশপ্রেমিক সেনাবাহিনী আর আমরা খুবই ওয়েল অর্গানাইজ।”
Translation:
“They have no sense of judging good or bad. They will follow party commands. Much like our military. Like the training militaries of other countries go through, Jamaat is somewhat like that. And Jamaat’s leader recently said that our patriotic army and we are very well organized.”
Social media: a powerful and dangerous “digital field”
Rumeen Farhana stressed that politics today has two fields: the traditional physical field (rallies, public meetings) and the digital field (social media). She said the digital field reaches many more people quickly, and Jamaat uses it aggressively. According to her, Jamaat deploys many bot accounts to attack opponents with abusive language and to spread harmful comments.
“রাজনীতির মাঠ কিন্তু এখন দুটো। একটা হচ্ছে প্রচলিত মাঠ… আরেকটা হচ্ছে সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যম ডিজিটাল মাঠ… ডিজিটাল মাঠটা অনেক বেশি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ… এই যে ডিজিটাল মাঠে জামায়াত তার প্রতিপক্ষ বিরোধীপক্ষ কিংবা যাকে সে তার রাজনৈতিক বয়ানের জন্য থ্রেট মনে করে তাকে কি ভাষায় আক্রমণ করে আপনারা লক্ষ্য করেছেন নিশ্চয়ই। তাদের অসংখ্য বট আইডি আছে এবং সেটা দিয়ে তারা একটা মানুষকে একেবারে মানে যেকোনো ভাষায় তারা আক্রমণ করতে পারে।”
Translation:
“The political field is now two. One is the traditional field… and the other is the social media digital field… The digital field is much more important… In this digital field, you have surely noticed how Jamaat attacks its opponents or anyone it sees as a threat because of political statements. They have many bot IDs and with those they can attack a person in any kind of language.”
Political decency and the threat to rivals
Rumeen said Jamaat lacks political decency. She recalled times when she spoke in parliament defending Jamaat during its hard times, but the party did not remember her support. Now, she warned, if Jamaat views one of her statements or another party’s politics as a threat, they will not hesitate to “eliminate” that person or crush them completely.
“জামায়াতের রাজনৈতিক শিষ্টাচার নেই… ধরুন, জামায়াতের ব্যাপারে আমি কি পার্লামেন্টে দাঁড়িয়ে বলিনি যে, জামায়াতের অবস্থা অনেকটা এরকম হয়েছে যে তাকে একটা তকমা দাও এবং তাকে পিটিয়ে মেরে ফেলো। এটা তো একটা সভ্য দেশে হতে পারে না। অথচ এটা ঘটেছে… এখন আমার কোনো কোনো বক্তব্য বা আমার কোনো বয়ান ঠিক এবং জাতীয় পার্টির কোনো রাজনীতি যদি জামায়াতের জন্য তারা হুমকি মনে করে, সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তাদেরকে এলিমিনেট করতে কিংবা তাদেরকে একেবারে মাটির সঙ্গে মিশিয়ে দিতে দুইবার চিন্তা করবে না।”
Translation:
“Jamaat has no political decency… For example, didn’t I stand in parliament and say about Jamaat that their situation has become like this: label them and beat them to death. That cannot happen in a civilized country. Yet it happened… Now, if some of my statements or the politics of the Jatiya Party are seen as a threat by Jamaat, they will not think twice to eliminate them or completely crush them.”
