In a recent television talk show, BNP’s Assistant International Affairs Secretary, Rumeen Farhana, spoke about the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election. She said:
“বিএনপি ডাকসু নির্বাচন চায়নি, বিএনপির উপর ডাকসু নির্বাচন চাপিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে।”
Translation: “BNP did not want the DUCSU election; the DUCSU election was imposed on BNP.”
According to her, the decision to hold the DUCSU election was not part of BNP’s political agenda, and the party had to accept it unwillingly. Rumeen Farhana’s statement has sparked discussion in political circles about the influence of student politics on national politics.
