New Centre Launched in Dhaka
To make the visa process easier for Bangladeshi citizens, France has opened a modern visa application centre in the capital city Dhaka. The centre will ensure faster and improved services for both short-term and long-term visa applicants.
The new centre is located at Rangs Z Square on Gulshan Avenue. It was inaugurated on Tuesday, 16 September 2025 by the French Ambassador to Bangladesh, Marie Masdupuy.
Appointment System for Applicants
From Wednesday, 17 September 2025, applicants can book appointments online through the VFS Global website. After booking, they can visit the centre to submit their visa applications.

Ambassador’s Remarks
At the opening ceremony, the French Ambassador said that the initiative is aimed at making travel easier and more efficient for Bangladeshis.
She highlighted the benefits of the new system.
The Ambassador said, “This will increase the number of daily applications, reduce waiting time for appointments, modernize payment options, and improve the applicants’ experience through a specialized center.”
Role of VFS Global
The Ambassador stressed that while VFS Global will collect applications and related documents, the final processing and decision-making will remain with the French Embassy.
The Ambassador emphasized,
“VFS Global will collect the applications and related documents, but the responsibility of processing and decision-making will remain with the French Embassy.”

The centre has been designed with trained customer service representatives to ensure a smooth experience for applicants. Additional services will include:

- Form-filling assistance
- Other customer-friendly facilities
Background of VFS Global
VFS Global has been working with the French government since 2004 in visa processing. Currently, it operates 70 visa centres in 29 countries for France.
The organization clarified that its role would remain limited to administrative tasks such as application collection, required document handling, and biometric enrolment.
Final visa decisions—including approval or rejection—will be made only by the French Embassy under the Schengen system.
Working Hours of the New Center
The new visa application centre in Dhaka will be open Sunday to Thursday, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
