Statement After Meeting With CEC
On Monday (22 September), after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin, the Chief Coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP), Nasir Uddin Patwari, spoke to reporters about his party’s election prospects.
Nasir Uddin Patwari said that according to their survey, NCP is likely to secure 150 seats in the upcoming parliamentary election. However, the party will contest in all 300 constituencies, aiming for a majority victory.
NCP’s Election Target
Nasir Uddin Patwari stated:
“আমরা সার্ভে করে জানতে পেরেছি আগামী নির্বাচনে এনসিপির ১৫০টি আসনে জয়ী হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে। তবে আমরা ৩০০ আসনে প্রার্থী দেবো এবং ৩০০ আসনে জয়ের জন্যই লড়বো।”
Translation: “From our survey, we learned that NCP has the possibility to win 150 seats in the upcoming election. However, we will nominate candidates in all 300 seats and will fight to win all 300.”

BNP’s Position in the Election
When asked by journalists how many seats BNP-Jamaat might win, Nasir Uddin Patwari replied:
“তাহলে বিএনপি-জামায়াত কয়টা পাবে? সাংবাদিকদের এমন প্রশ্নের জবাবে এনসিপির মুখ্য সমন্বয়ক বলেন, এটা তো আমি বলতে পারবো না। যারা ভোট দেবে তারাই বলতে পারবে। বিএনপি অনেকগুলো ডাটা সার্ভে করেছে। জামায়াতও করেছে। তবে আমি একবার বলেছিলাম, বিএনপি ৫০ থেকে ১০০ আসনের ওপরে যাবে না। আপনারা তো এখন বাস্তবচিত্র দেখতে পাচ্ছেন, দলটি তলানিতে যাচ্ছে।”
Translation: “How many seats BNP-Jamaat will get? I cannot say that; only the voters can decide. BNP has conducted many data surveys and so has Jamaat. But I had once said that BNP will not cross 50 to 100 seats. Now you can see the real picture, the party is going down to the bottom.”
NCP Registration and Party Symbol
Patwari also shared some good news about the party’s official registration with the Election Commission.
He said:
“সুখবর আসছে। এনসিপি নিবন্ধন পাবে বলে ইসি ইতিবাচক সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে। আমরা শাপলাতেই আছি, এনসিপি কনফার্ম শাপলাতেই থাকবে। এটা সাদাও হতে পারে, লালও হতে পারে। বিধিমালায় সংশোধনের সুযোগ আছে। এর মধ্যে একটি প্রতীক না পেলে এনসিপি পরবর্তী পদক্ষেপ নেবে।”
Translation: “Good news is coming. EC has given a positive decision about NCP’s registration. We are sticking with the Water Lily (Shapla) symbol, and NCP will definitely remain with Shapla. It could be white, it could be red. There is a chance for some rule changes. If one symbol is not available, NCP will take the next step.”
