Umma Uswatun Rafia, a member of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), shared that many people label her as belonging to Shibir or a female student organization simply because she wears a hijab.
Umma Uswatun Rafia told a journalist:
“এখন অনেকেই আমাকে শিবির বলে, ছাত্রী সংস্থার বলে-যেহেতু আমি হিজাব পরি। কিন্তু ব্যাপারটা আমার বেশ মজার লাগে কারণ-একজন মুসলিম হিসেবে আমাদের দায়িত্বই হলো ন্যূনতম যে পর্দার বিধান সেটা মেনে চলা।”
Translation: “Now many calls me Shibir or a female student organization member—just because I wear a hijab. But I actually find it quite amusing because, as a Muslim, it is our responsibility to at least follow the basic rule of modesty.”
