First Bangladeshi in the Flotilla

Shahidul Alam has made history by becoming the first Bangladeshi to participate in the flotilla. He left Dhaka earlier in the day from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

At a press conference in Dhaka, Shahidul said:

“Genocide is happening right now. Israel and America together are killing people in Palestine, in Gaza. Many Western countries are also cooperating. But people around the world are protesting this. In solidarity with them, I am joining the media flotilla.”

He further added:

“I am going as the first person from Bangladesh, but I am carrying the love of all the Bangladeshi people. If we are defeated in this struggle, humanity will be defeated.”

Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s Mission

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition is made up of civil society groups worldwide. They send vessels with humanitarian aid and volunteers to Gaza, often facing Israeli attacks in international waters.

On 31 August, nearly 500 activists sailed under the Global Sumud Flotilla, but the fleet was attacked twice by Israeli forces and is now anchored in Greek waters.

The current media flotilla focuses on breaking the information blackout and sharing the voices of Gaza’s besieged population with the world.
