Shahidul Alam Detained by Israeli Forces

Earlier in the morning, Shahidul Alam was reportedly taken away by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) from the Conscience ship, which was part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition heading toward Gaza.

In a Facebook video message before being detained, Shahidul Alam said:

“I am Shahidul Alam, a photographer and writer from Bangladesh. If you are watching this video, it means we have been detained at sea. I have been abducted by Israeli occupation forces, who are committing genocide in Gaza with the active support of the United States and other Western powers.”

He also urged everyone to continue standing for Palestine’s independence.

Shahidul’s Earlier Warning

A day before the incident, Shahidul Alam had posted on Facebook that the flotilla might enter the “red zone”—a high-risk area—by early Wednesday morning.

Concern Over Safety

Shahidul’s detention has sparked concern across Bangladesh, especially among journalists, activists, and rights groups. Many have joined Fakhrul in calling on the government to take diplomatic steps to ensure his immediate and safe return from Israeli custody.
