Rony Claims People Are Talking About Executions
Former MP Golam Maula Rony has said that a major topic of public discussion now is the possible hanging of several Awami League leaders before the upcoming national election.
He said in a YouTube video on Saturday (October 11):
“একটি বিষয় মানুষের মুখে মুখে ফুটছে, সেটি হলো খুব দ্রুতই আওয়ামী লীগের কিছু নেতাকে ফাঁসিতে ঝুলানো হবে।”
Translation: One thing that people are talking about is that some Awami League leaders will soon be hanged.
Golam Maula Rony added that this topic is being widely discussed among the public.
“When People Talk About Something, It Often Happens”
He noted that when a topic becomes popular among people, it often turns into reality.
“যখন কোনো একটা বিষয় জনগণের মুখে মুখে চলে আসে তখন সেটি ঘটে… আওয়ামী লীগের পতন হবে… তারা পালানোর রাস্তা পাবে না।”
Translation: When something spreads among people, it usually happens… People once said Sheikh Hasina would flee, that Awami League would fall, and its leaders would have no way to escape.
Rony said that similar kinds of talks are now happening again — about the current government, advisers, and even their possible escape.
Names of Alleged “Execution List” Circulating
Rony claimed that people are even mentioning specific names of those who might face execution, although there is no official discussion about such actions.
“আওয়ামী লীগের যে নেতাদের আটক করা হয়েছে, নির্বাচনের আগে তাদেরকে ফাঁসিতে ঝুলানো হবে… সালমান এফ রহমান, আনিসুল হক, রাশেদ খান মেনন, হাসানুল হক ইনু ও পলকের কথা বলছেন কেউ কেউ।”
Translation: Some say that Awami League leaders who are detained will be hanged before the election… Names like Salman F Rahman, Anisul Haq, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu, and Palak are being mentioned.

Golam Maula Rony questioned why names like Menon or Inu are included, saying they were not seen as major figures in corruption or oppression.
“আমি বুঝি না, মানুষ কেন ইনু-মেননের নাম বলছেন… ফাঁসির তালিকায় কেন তার নাম আসছে আমি বুঝি না।”
Translation: I don’t understand why people are mentioning Inu or Menon… I don’t see why his name is on the list for hanging.
Concerns Over Fear and Hatred
Golam Maula Rony said that these public rumors could be part of a larger effort to create fear and hatred against the Awami League before the election.
“আওয়ামী লীগকে ভয় দেখানোর জন্য এবং জনগণের মধ্যে আওয়ামী বিদ্বেষ ও আওয়ামী ভীতি তৈরি করার জন্য দলটির নেতাদের ফাঁসিতে ঝুলানোর যে কথা মানুষের মুখে মুখে ফুটছে এটা ভয়ানক লক্ষণ।”
Translation: The talk of hanging Awami League leaders seems aimed at scaring the party and spreading hatred and fear among the people — it’s a dangerous sign.
He warned that rushed or targeted actions before the polls could have serious consequences for the country.

Doubt Over February Election
The former MP also mentioned that people are divided about whether the election will actually be held in February.
“বেশিরভাগ মানুষ বলছেন নির্বাচন হবে না… আবার এর সামান্তরালভাবে বলা হচ্ছে ফেব্রুয়ারিতে নির্বাচন হবে, বিএনপি যেভাবেই হোক ক্ষমতায় আসবে।”
Translation: Many people are saying the election won’t happen… while others are saying it will happen in February and BNP will come to power no matter what.
Rony concluded that even though the election’s timing is uncertain, public rumors about executions are increasing and could mark the start of a new and risky political chapter in Bangladesh.
